From the time we were young, we’ve all been taught that it’s not polite to point at people. Worse yet, who wants to be the person on the receiving end of that finger? Absolutely horrifying… unless, of course, you’re showing your dog at a dog show!
There is nothing more thrilling than a judge pointing directly at your dog—as if to shout, “This is the one!” or “This is my pick!” Your heart races, butterflies flutter in your stomach, and for a split second, the whole ring fades away. We may not all look the part, but deep down, dog show folks are total thrill seekers!
Shown here is the fantastic moment at the 2025 Collie Club of America National Specialty when esteemed judge Mr. Carl Williford pointed with pure enthusiasm to Smooth Winners Dog: Jolis Boldly Go (owned by Elisabeth Johnston). That confident point said it all—this stunning Smooth Collie had captured the judge’s eye and the win!
The photo captures the electric energy perfectly: Carl in his sharp suit, arm extended, the crowd cheering, and Jolis Boldly Go striding proudly with that classic Collie grace and presence.
Moments like these are why we live for the breed—the intelligence, the loyalty, the sheer beauty on display!
